Nonviolence International is sad to announce that it will be unable to lead a Peace Delegation in March. Trump’s ban on immigration and visits by Iranians last week has unfortunately caused Iran to respond, making it legally impossible for our delegation to enter the country.
On Feb 1, US National Security Advisor threatened Iran for its test launching of mid-range missiles and “destabilizing behavior across the Middle East.” More than ever, we need citizens and policy makers to resist the renewed path to war between Iran and the US. NI President, Mubarak Awad said “Peace delegations are needed more than ever to promote mutual understanding.”
NI will approach the Iranian government and seek an exception to their ban and to allow student peace delegations to proceed. There are many ways to support peace and justice with and within Iran. Check out what we’re up to in our blog, resist the US involvement in a proxy war with Iran in Yemen, and donate to our Farsi resource library project to get more nonviolent resources translated into Farsi.
